IIRC it's part of the fuel pump in the tank....Not a good move on GM's part...

Yeah, its part of the pump assembly located in the gas tank. It's actually a pre-filter and filter combo. good luck

Service tech at local chevy dealer said they have alot less fuel pump failures with this setup than the older replaceable filter in the frame. Filter in the tank is a large unit.

Something to think about, EPA mandates ever stricter emissions limits, even evaporative emissions. By eliminating the fuel circulation from tank to rail and back again manufacturers are able to stay in compliance. This is why we have these new return less fuel systems. It isn't because GM or who ever is so stupid that they want to do it that way.

yes but what does a returnless fuel system have to do with no fuel filter on the rail? I was told by a gm training center instructor it has to do with simplifying maintenance. and lowering maintenance costs. to cover the higher cost of vehicles. and the trucks still have return lines.
