I blew one of my front axle shafts on my Dmax. Are the same shafts used across the board for GM trucks? Will a shaft from a 1500 fit? Thanks, Nick

Nope,
Now as far as I know a 1500HD/2500 is the same as a 2500HD and 3500 for all of the front end components

no they are not the same. It sucks, I have an extra one (never returned for core) for a 1500 and it won't work on my truck now.

Thanks for the info, guys. I just picked one up from a buddy of mine. Looking at the one I broke, it really wasn't the shaft. I took off the rubber boot and it was the u-joint that actually let go. Wonder if you can just buy that one part instead of the whole shaft?

way easier to buy the whole shaft with new CV joints and new boots on both ends. I tried just replacing a boot on one one time and it didn't last long and the joint went out on me anyway.
so, as long as you have the whole thing out, replace it with a new one. and, don't forget to turn in the old one as a core.
