These were taken 7 or 8 years ago - its an emergency generator, 12 cyl cat, quad turbo, puts out 440 volts at 800 amps (it had to be able to run 4 tv transmitters at once)

The pics are of it being tested under full load, turbos are at 1100 degrees.

(I'm sure this should probably be in a different area, just not sure where)

Well... what you are seeing is the break-in run - the cat yellow paint on the turbos and exhaust vaporized within seconds. You could actually see the oil splashing inside the turbos - it would cool off the area where it hit.

I doubt you could get close enough to the turbo to hit it - the outside of the door to that room was at 120 - probably 140-150 inside. Not quite as bad as standing between steamship boilers - I was told it was 175, all I knew was I didn't want to stay there - ie been there done that, don't want to do it again.

I wonder if the turbo on our 6.5's look like that under full throttle??

That would be cool to shoe horn that into a pick up truck. Does Banks make a Stinger kit for that CAT?
