took my first road trip this weekend into the mountains, with an outside temp of 15-20 deg and snowing with the heater turned off, I would have to roll down the windows to get the inside to cool off. I felt around the console and floor and it seamed a little hot, is this the norm? if not any sugestions?

Never had a problem like that and I live in Florida. You don't have a signature yet so I don't know if you have the automatic climate control (round adjustment dial) or the manual (dual sliding temp selectors) but what I'm getting at is to maybe check the obvious first if you haven't already. The interior temp selector, whichever type you have, will continue to heat the interior with "blow through" air even with the system off. That air temp is dependent upon where your temperature selector is. So, make sure it's set to colder/coldest position if not already. EVERY vehicle I have ever owned functioned similarly.
I don't have any other ideas at this point. Good luck!
