I've been wondering the same thing. Been looking at this for awhile now and think it's a pretty sweet setup. Has anyone tried it/seen it? Really like the idea of the kneeling feature.

I think is a great looking system and the fact that its self leveling is nice the main reason im looking at it is for the unloaded ride , my truck rides good but it could always be better just my thinking

Nick anyone have any info on it im really loking into getting it

I talked to these people at SEMA and it looked pretty cool. They at the time had a few more things to dial in for what was going to be offered as I was really wanting to know about the lifted apps. There was a few concerns with axle pitch/angle depending on what we would be building and possible needing to change the pinion.

I looked at the air bag it kit and I like it but it they said it may not work with my 5er hitch that im getting , and its only the rear kit not the front and it doesnt come complete like the R4 tech does everything I need is there so thats Y im getting it here in a month or so, but the air bag it kit looks really good but not what i need thanks
If you are sold on it I would be happy to do a install on it here. I can get it but have not added it to my product lines yet until I put my hands on it first. There is another product in the pipelines that we know about but have no idea on how long till that is going to release so till then this could be a alliterative. I myself am not a big fan of "moving" height because people tend to mis-use it and then leads to problems. I stayed away from Kelderman for that reason because it seemed as every customer had to through in "yea and I can lower the truck in-case I get pulled over or need to lower it for want ever reason and then lift it high to be big"...ummm yea...no thanks, this is not "hydros R us" and with these large trucks the drive line and angles get screwed up pretty fast and let alone other suspension geometry. I don't feel this kit pushes that selling point to much and allows for too much height adjustment so I think it may be a good all around product to try.

$2200.. - nice setup but a bit costly when you look at the "airbag it" towing kit that includes the front as well

I have no idea about the quility though

So you are getting it then?? It sure looks like a sick setup...keep me posted on how it turns out cause i really wanna do this too. Give me an excuss to buy a new truck and lift it to put this on hahah.

#9 ·
yea Im hopeing to get it in by the end of sept I have a couple big shows by then and I will keep you posted

#11 ·
what hitch would it not fit with

#12 ·
they told me a they havent tested with alot of 5er hitches and i would of been on my own the make it fit, dont want to have to cut up the hitch or there kit to make it work and its not a compete kit like the r4 tech has a tank comp andis auto leveling I dont need to buy anything else with this kit

#14 ·
its the same as the r4tech kit , and no im not going to add air to the front just the rear

#15 ·
Nice thread. I don't know about the R4tech, but...
I recently put the RideRite Firestone bags on my HD 2500. The intended purpose was to increase my carrying capacity. Low and behold I reaped an unexpected benefit... my ride quality improved dramatically with 10 psi inflation.
I noticed when I inflated the bags that the truck lifted slightly, thus taking some load off the springs. The first time down the road really impressed me. The first bump in the road was a paved over ditch that would give a significant jolt to the rear. But this time, the rear was as "supple" as the front. I was ALL grins....

Ditto here with my Air Lift kit - night and day difference. Total cost, $250 plus a new drill bit and my time.

I think most people would be equally surprised with bags alone. Just enough air in a regular bag kit to unload the springs makes an unbelievable difference.

maybe we could work out a deal lol im looking at getting it in oct along with some new wheels 20x9 black kmc hoss or 20x9 black bmf nov
I hear you man. Just let me know and we can work out a walk up deal for the Off Road Show:D

Hey Nick, remember a while back I asked about an airbag kit that would allow me to drop the bed to load and unload? We know where you stand on the Kelderman kit, even though it allows 8" of travel as opposed to 5" on the Firestone kit. The Airbagit setup doesn't look as well thought out. Does anybody else have some real world experience with any of these kits?

Really my stand is I would not want to sell a kit/package like this to a customer that is looking to change the ride height, I feel that is not what the product was directed for. Set ride height and reasons of what it will achieve as in ride sure but I have never been into suspension that is "on demand" adjustable. Either way you also have to remember you are now riding on a air bag and if that has any type of failure you are died in the water and I myself do not feel good about that on the road, thats just me and my feelings. The possibility of a leaf spring failure is slim of being stuck on the side of the road with a large hauler hooked up to you.

I would like to find a local HD owner looking to do this Firestone kit, I would give them a FREE install so I can try it out.

I e-mailed a R4Tech rep on Aug. 26,2010 and got this response regarding that the kit is for 2005 and newer GM trucks only. "At this time, we did not plan to develop a kit for your model truck, however, our Engineering group will cross reference the newer model suspension to see how we might be able to retro fit to your vehicle. We will need a week to perform the assessment." He asked me how I heard about the R4Tech and I mentioned that I was a member at thedieselplace.com. I have not heard back from him regarding a retro fit kit for my 2002. I am hoping for good news.:)

Cool, I was asking about the R4 in the towing section before this thread was started and have been watching this tread since it began. Can't wait to hear if I should move it out of the wish list and into the shopping cart.

Hey R4 rep, if you are looking for an east coast guinea pig I would be happy to help.

So Nick any word ?

Unfortunately I have not heard back from the person I talked to. He had called me and I was in my normal running around crazy on the phone and he said he was going to email me but I never got a email so I take he must have not wrote down my info correct. I just went though almost every person over there trying to find the guy I talked to with no luck other than the guy might be a person out of the office right now so I will hear back next week from the main person I talked to or the rep that called me. I have a couple guys that are wanting this kit local that contacted me and I am still open to others so we can get some first hand feed back on install and how it works. I have a number of places I can get the product but I am wanting to get with the rep first to go over what we talked about to start the relationship off on the product right:).

I will post more as I know...sorry.

Wish someone would make one for the 2011 soon, they don't even have airbags for them yet and the only answeer i get from them is " they be out in a couple of months". that was there statement the 1st of august and again when I call them the 4th of Oct. LOL

#34 · (Edited)
Nick thank you for taking the time and talking to me today on the phone I am looking foward hearing about your thoughts on the kit after you get your hands on it.

#35 ·
No problem at all...thank you for being open to my thoughts and directions. I want to be the guy you buy from because it will work best for your needs rather than just swap parts to not gain much. I am a salesman but not that typical salesman people would think of. Really the phone call confirmed my feelings from you for what I want to gain, thank you.:)

Still looking.....BUMP...

I am getting alot of people asking about the special offer but no one yet solid on the install. This is a great time to get this kit installed at a great 1 time only discounted rate. I just had to send a email back to Firestone telling them that unfortunately we have not yet found a truck to install the product on. They wanted to send a writer/photographer for a magazine to our shop the end of next week, but no truck:(.

Please feel free email installs@norcaltruck.com and ask about the R4Tech special install offer. We would like to have a first hand knowledge on how this product works and preforms so we can offer help to members looking at it so this install would be a great all around help to everyone one involved.

Thank you.
