For anyone thats interested, I read so much in a week or so about the dirt , filter, problems, etc. I figured I would ask my dealer service manager about adding a second fuel filter system to my 2004 GMC Duramax truck. He stated that adding a PRE OEM Racor would not void or cause warranty issues .I now have this statement in a legal binding document with his signature. I will also add that he would not talk about a post OEM system. I also contacted GM,s costomer service and they said if the service manager says its ok then its ok, and he is their outhorized company represenative . They also said it was a good idea. Maybe this will help or give someone ideas. I would like to make clear that I am not against any of the filtersystems I have read about , but the previous discused system is all I could get my dealers service manager to sign his name to. Just got my truck back from non-fuel system warranty svc. It has the Nictane CAT pre-oem filter. I showed it to the svc writer and asked if it would pose any warranty problems and he said no.

To the contrary I believe that most, if not all, mechanics appreciate the extra effort being made to protect the truck.

I will find out today whether or not the service manager or dmax tech approves of my pre oem cat filter (I'm sure it isn't a problem). Have a nasty idle knock that I want them to listen to this afternoon. I was hoping I wouldn't have any injector problems this early, but could be something else....
