do you unthread big nut behind fan/clutch to remove and how do you hold pulley to do so, is right or left hand thread (02 duramax)

Yes, big nut behind the fan, normal threads (counter clockwise to remove) with a big wrench on there, smack the wrench with a hammer, usually will spin the fan loose.
