Now that the trucks have been out a few years has anyone found a aftermarket bolt in replacement fog lamps to fit factory dam with more power than the factory deals. I have seen the PIAA set up and not looking to go that route.


I am working on increasing lighting power without adding more lights just replacing existing units. The Kennedy light harness with the Sylvania Silver bulbs has been a significant increase.

Do you really need to see better. Man I get bright lighted all the time when I run on DIMS!!!!!! I see much better now then when I had my other trucks, 99 Dodge, and 94 Chevy.

Actually this is more when I am up in Yosemite Valley and surrounding 1 lane roads. Last years winter was pretty bad and snowed and rained an awful lot. Had lots of downed trees and slides and when it gets dark up there...It Gets dark. I am planning on joining the Volunteer fire department and as always, more light is better. Here in the city you almost do not need lights at all. Kind of silly.....

i had the same thought, but if you went higher wattage, the lights would get too hot and i would worry about melting or warping the plastic air dam. on my old truck, i had 100w KC hilites and my mom got in the truck once and accidently hit the switch for them. i had the plastic covers on em and within a matter of minutes, they were smelly, melted piles of goo (that was fun to cleanup by the way). i would just say get the 4 on adapter so your highs and lows are both on and that should be plenty of light.

For what it's worth, I have been running the Silverstar lites in my wifes van and 1 burnt out in less than a year. I did a little reading on their website and they say that the normal expected lifespan is about 1 year. I loved the lites but that is a short life for something that is twice the cost of stock lites.

How do the lights perform? Are you happy with them. They are a bit pricey but if they light up the road 3-4 times better than the current deals then it may be worth it.

With an aftermarket wire harness you can run the 9005 Bulb in the fog light housing with no problems. The aftermarket harness is for the heat produced but that works great, then you have tons of light.

The Sylvaina Silverstar 880ST are rated @27 watts, However the 893ST are reated @ 36 watts. Is it possible to run the 893ST instead of the 880ST ? Would it hurt the factory fog lamps by running the higher wattage bulbs ?

If you are getting ready to join a FD you are going to get emergency light fever and want some bright flashing lights. I would save you money. I have take down and alley light on my lightbar on my truck. The alley light really help put light to the sides of the truck.

I did the all lights on mod with hb switch. My fogs, higs, lows all come on at once and its like daylight.



No need for $$$$EXPENSIVE$$$$ wiring harness mods. By the way I checked
the voltage with all lights on and my lamp voltage is the same as the
battery voltage (means no loss of power).



Do a search for all lights on mod..........

On my 2000 Silverado I replaced my factory fog lights (the same as your factory ones) with a pair of the Hella FF75's. These lights are really very bright for their size. I always got bright-lighted when I had them on meeting someone.


I wired them right into the factory fog light harness and used the factory wiring and switch. I just made a little adapter so I could plug them into the factory plug at the lights (you could just cut off the plug and hard wire it)


I also had to fab up a little bracket to get them in the correct position in the fog light hole in the air dam.


They match up size-wise very well to the factory lights. Most people would not think they were aftermarket lights.


I got mine at Advance Auto parts for under $100.
