I have the Firestone helper bags on my rear axle, and they have these center metal rings that are exposed. is this normal, or should the bags be replaced?

Thanks!

Obviously you have a question about the safety of these bags. It would seem to me that you have answered your own question.

Mine are doing the same thing. They do not leak so I am just keeping an eye on it. They are under compression so the worst that should happen is leaking. When/if they start to leak I will replace them.

Well mr. jdman, they came on the truck when I got it, and not sure how long they have been like this honestly. the most I tow is probably 5000 pounds, so I really don't need the bags, therefore they basically stay empty of air.

thanks for the help, I'll just keep an eye on them as well if I need to fill them up.
