So we are assembling our '96 Chevrolet Detroit diesel engine (some of you may have heard about the truck that we rebuilt, and it broke down again) and I went a little past the point of the rocker arm assembly, and I read in a manual or something, that you have to turn the push rods a certain direction as one end is harder than the other. It said to keep them oriented in a same direction for reassembly, but we didn't know so they are all messed up. And I have no clue how to determine that. Please help me out as I can't find any thing online. So I would appreciate your help. Thank you.

When new, one end is copper colored, that end goes up or to the rocker, used rods you may half to look hard to see the copper color ... if you can't determine for sure you need to purchase a new set...
