What are the "normal" egt temps for these trucks?

Cruising flat ground at 65-70 mph?
Max. "safe" sustained temps?
Max. "safe" instant temps?
Max. "safe" cruising on hwy temps?
Max. "safe" cruising on hwy temps (towing)?

Probably more questions I can't think of now.

To simplify it, don't hold over 1250-1300 pre-turbo for sustained lengths of time. Short bursts to 1400-1500 and higher do not allow the metals time to heat up so that isn't a real problem. The beauty of the aluminum head is it's ability to transfer the heat to the coolant quickly. Most pistons are aluminum and are not water cooled. The Dmax has specially designed pistons that actually have galleys cast under the piston head. Oil is sprayed onto the underside of the pistons and goes into those galleys through access holes, cooling the piston.

The problem with 1300 sustained is what it does to your turbocharger. I believe that is the weak link.
