Seen a comment in another post .... Thought I'd start a topic for comment ...
The consensus is Pre Turbo install gives the most accurate reading in order to compensate for excessive Exhaust Gauge Temps, when at all possible .....
An Aft turbo pyro install will yield 200 to 300 degrees less difference approx. in temperature .... This can and will vary between trucks .....
Depending on the thickness of pyro probe will also contribute to quicker temp readings, thinner obviously the faster temp reader ....
What you are looking for with a EGT gauges with performance mods are extended duration's of high exhaust gasses .... This can happen with the power turned up while competing whether on the street, track etc; ....
Also while mildly enhanced and towing, for you haulers ....
A typical high sustained (not spike, short burst) egt should be in the 1100* to 1250 * as a rule of thumb .....
