Hey guys new member here. I am looking at buying a 2500HD SILVERADO LT crew cab with the 6.6 Duromax diesel and an Allison transmission. I drive quite a bit about 300 miles a week so I am wondering what your past experiences with the reliability, maintenance costs and how many miles I should expect to get from this truck. I would also like your views on the price. Dealer has the truck its's an LT with everything but leather, 8700 miles. They want 35,500 is this a fair price? Since this would be my first diesel any insight would be great. Thanks

I bought min in Feb 06 and I have 22.5K miles on it, its been to the dealer for a 5 min recall/reflash of the computer. Other than that its been perfect!

I paid 39K brand new with every option on it. Leather, Moonroof, Onstar/Sat Radio, etc, etc.

You can check it out here.

I would call $35,500 a bit high. Great trucks though.
What year & motor? I bought mine Aug 30 2006 and drive about 400 miles a week,(Most highway)And have about 12,500 on it now, It is a Great to drive,(Better then that Dog Ford I owned) It has Great power and comfort, as for maintenance just Oil ($70 @ local garage)and fuel filter changes($40 @ same place), No Big deal, Get It you will be happy you did!:D
8700 miles what a dealer demo????? The price is right on a new truck(the one you describe), dealer told me dealer demos not worth it, and when I ran the numbers realized they arent either, sometimes they are give out as loaner cars (ie read trashed), dont always receive all rebates, warrenty already started etc.
39000 out the door a month ago for my 07/3500, 4x4, CC, DRW. 35,500 sounds high.
I purchased my truck August 7th 2006 with 18 miles on it I currently have 19,400 and not one problem out of it
these trucks are reliable. My LLY, which will be 3 years old at the end of march, has 163000 miles on it and everything is pretty much the original. Now my new LBZ will be seeing the same treatment as my LLY. I gave my 04.5 LLY to my dad.
I bought a new '06 LBZ and have put 20k on it in 8 months now. I've only had to have the computer reflashed to fix a powertrain shimmy, so I'd say I'm happy. Especially when it starts at -45 in Fairbanks, Alaska. I'll tell you this, the company that patrols and services the Trans Alaska Pipeline will only buy one truck to run up and down the state from Prudhoe to Valdez, and that's a GM duramax. The dodge's shell trannys and ford powerstrokes blow up. Based on friends' bad experiences and strangers i've had to pick up in the middle of nowhere while on hunting trips, i wouldn't buy anything else. I'd like to see how the new HD's do. Got mine for $39k loaded, but that's the Alaska price.
My LBZ just turned 25k, few problems so far, new alt., new pcm and egr valve. the truck never left me walking. Drove it three days on the batteries due to a holiday weekend and the alt. gave out friday afternoon. I drive 75-100 miles a day. PCM was replaced when the tech-2 shut down during a reflash. Dealer gave me a loaner for two days until the new pcm arrived. EGR valve cost me three hours of my time since i waited for it and the dealer offered me a loaner while i waited so i could go to lunch. I would say the truck has been reliable. Paid 42k for it, it is a work truck, very few options. Has cd player, dual climate control, cruise, tilt, tinted windows, cab lights , X-tra cab, bed liner and 8' fisher "hour" mount plow. No trade, no down payment and it is my first new vehicle.
Love the Duramax

No engine problems other than the Glow plug Recall.

I have had 2 rear axle seals go bad. One at 14,533 which Trashed the rearend and Chevy replaced rearend and brakes. The second one went out at 99,000 I caught it b4 it did damage. Currently just a shade over 112,000
Price seems high for a used truck but depending on availibility and demand in diff. areas price fluctuates alot. (here a new LT is 34,200) Price a new one and see what you get. I bought mine the end of july and have 15,000 miles on it now  . ( i love to drive this truck everyday but gonna start using the lil commuter soon) I drive around 550 miles per week and have never been back to the dealer. I am needing to go back due to a headlight that gets moisture in it after using a local car wash. I called and they said bring it in and they will order a new one. Besides that the truck has been flawless. I have been putting it off trying to find something else to bi**h about but I can't find anything else besides the dam auto door locks at 15 mph and the small fuel tank.
Try to get a better deal to save as much as possible because if you do buy one and frequent this site you are gonna need the extra cash ;) .
My 06 LLY is sooooooo much more reliable than my old 6.0 liter Ford was. GM has replaced an EGR valve and a control board for the AC blower motor in 28,000 miles.
The Ford had 3 pedal assemblies, 1 EGR valve, multiple sensors, 1 front shock absorber, and 1 ENGINE SHORT BLOCK replaced in 30,000 miles. I am very happy with the reliability of the Chevy.
I still wonder if its used or demo. Id shy away from the demo. A dmax should run 150-200,000 miles easy.

Better run more than that;)!!! Or I guess I should get rid of mine):h):h
This my first diesel, I have the 06 LBZ CC. $31,600 Everything but leather and steering wheel controls. I love it!!!
Just turned 3,000 miles.
im with haulin-rv if i dont get 3 to 4 hundred thousand miles out of her ill get a gasser next time as i dont haul for a living im very easy on her
FWIW - just bought an 2007 Classic 2500HD LBZ/Allison 6-spd, brand new, 8 miles on it. everything but the leather, for $39,800 plus tax. Had a GMS discount through. List was $47K or there abouts. Included the 5/100 drive train warranty, but added ($1300) the bumper to bumper for 6/100. Buying GMS/Fleet was so easy.

Only 800 miles and I'm having the radiator replaced, but thats just a fluke and not common. A few friends own them (a 2003 and a 2005) and mostly it has been filters, oil and a few misc things, but nothing major. The 2005 already has over 52,000 on it.
