When I ordered my new Duramax, the dual alternator and 4x4 decal delete options were refused. Has this happened to anyone else? The decal removal was a no-brainer but what's the best way to get that second alternator? Yes, I'm capable and have been known to get my hands dirty. Too busy to do much drivin but so far a Great Truck.

When placing an order in GM's system the dual alternator options comes back as 'w/a' or will advise on price later. The decal delete was readly available at no additional cost. This was as of a week ago.

I was hopping someone would post the instructions on the dual alt. option, I'm very much interested in perfoming this add on in the spring. I have already found instructions on this forum for the high idle add on (spring time project as well) but would like to see what I'm in for with the dual alt. project.

Thanks

Well, I'm not sure it'll help ALOT, but
here is my small writeup from when I installed mine.

(you might notice that one of my pictures is used on
someone's website that sells the dual alt "kit".)

good luck & hth,

T.

Terry, thanks for the update looks pretty straight forward. I have one question about the 4 pin/prong connector which plugs into the alternator you did say one wire from the connector goes into the ecu, is there 3 other connections that need to be made or am I missing something here.

Thanks again.

Factory option when ordering vehicle for Dual Alt is 192.64 invoice and 224.00 retail.

On http://www.gmdieseltech.com/shop/index.php?cPath=6_24 it is 425.00 for the 105 amp kit. I'm not saying that it is a rip by any means. But it is much cheaper if you order with your vehicle.

So, if you can... order it w/ your vehicle. The only time it would not make sense is if you needed more than two 105 amp alts for a total of 210 amps. If you did it after purchase, you could get dual 145 amp alts for a total of 290 amps.

I ended up ordering it with my truck last week. The 2500hd EC SB DA also has the decal delete.

thanks for the replies,

Trouble is I DID order the dual alternators. At 190 something GMS it was a real good deal. Next day the salesman calls and says that the alternator option was refused??? So now at $425, I guess I'll have to do without. I'm just confused.

I would have the dealer call and find out why it was refused. Mine is being built this week and will have the 8X5 option. Below is all the current changes to the order guide since Dec 1, so it should be avalible. My dealer didn't know about it untill I gave him the Option code.
