You guys notice this?

2800 miles on the truck and the door is already ripping a hole in it... I put silicone grease on the weatherstrip yesterday and it looks like that will help alot.

This sequence is the door opening and then the last two are closing.

At 2800 K you should have opened the door 8 times top .... You prolly did that the first day ...

It is pretty stupid. The fit and finish of this truck is outstanding. Then you run into this. With the grease on there it seems to be fine but I don't like it.

Where the sheet metal is crimped underneath it's a little rough. That's what's abrading the rubber. I may put a dab of epoxy under there to make it smooth.

By the way Hoot,your right the exhaust @ the turbo isnt 4 inch,something like 3.5,my measuring tape was off that day

Mike, I noticed the other day that my weatherstripping was starting to rub.





Design flaw. Oh well, at least I can use my windshield washer without having to shut my window. On my Ford, it would run right off the a pillar, right into my power window buttons!

Take it back to the dealer. Get a new seal and have them figure the solution. That is what warranty is for.


I will be watching mine. Mine is a few days older and It does not appear to be a problem.... Yet! The doors get a lot of use with the family.

I've only got a little over 2,300 miles on mine. No problem yet..


And the greatest thing of all is that when it rains, water doesn't come into the cab of my 04.5 Cummins like my 2003 GMC Sierra did......

There is a TSB for the problem. Apparently there is a new seal.

Hoot, have you had the new seal installed yet? I have noticed this also, but haven't done anything about it. Just wondering if the dealerships would be aware of the problem if I stopped by on the weekend to get it fixed. Harry Half- @$$ reguarding the seal situation. I agree with you 100% about the trucks finish.


One thing that I thought improved the truck's exterior look is that I took off the emblems. It looks "cleaner" to me. But... alot of people ask why not leave them on? I guess if you left them on for a couple of months you might see that you are stuck with them becuase of a paint fade situation.


Tint the front drivers side windows to match the OEM windows and it will be looking even better

No I haven't gotten he new seals yet. I hate going dealerships. They give me the shakes.

I agree on the tint... also some guys, with the light colored trucks, blacken out the pillar between the doors. makes the whole area look limo black.

I'm up to 16,000 miles on mine and don't see any visible wear yet. I'll have to keep an eye on this. I did have a different problem with my door and seal Saturday. I was driving through New Mexico at about 80mph into a strong headwind. The wind was strong enough to make the top of the door flex away from the truck enough that the top unsealed and water (from the rain) was running in the truck, not to mention on my knee.


Has anybody else experienced this? I'm assuming it's just one of those things I'll have to deal with. Nothing looks defective and it only happens when I'm going into a strong headwind that seems to be coming slightly across the windsheld from the passenger side.


I don't remember my 2003 Chevy ever raining on me. But then again the Chevy was in the shop 34 times when I traded it on the Dodge.

I wonder if what you describe was really happening. I don't think the door is that flexible. Possible the weatherstrip is getting blown off its seat against the sheet metal?

I haven't experienced any leaking except for the cab lights. There was a couple drops of water on my visor mount once after a heavy rain I was driving in.

Since this issue came back up I'll add my experience. Took my truck to a dealer for 'slow fuel gauge'. Chrysler approved it and it was re-flashed. Asked about and got confirmation on the door seal TSB.


Chrysler did NOT approve the new seal for my truck. They said since the truck was over the 36K mileage it was NOT eligible for this under warranty.

capt I think that's cause after 36,000 you drop out of the B to B coverage and fall back to drivetrain coverage.

I have 30,000 miles to go.

No prob with the weather strip but I just noticed this AM a windshield leak. Noted drops at both assist handles and at the rearview. A little disturbing becouse now it makes me wonder... ( I just picked it up a week ago Sat.) The service dept. will not be happy to see me come July 5th AM !

Probably just clearance light leak... if you have them.
