Howdy!

My 2005 C5500 Crewcab passenger side front door handle appears to have come disconnected. Unable to open to door from outside using the door handle. Don't have a service manual don't know where to get one. Anyone know how difficult it is to open up the door panel without mucking it up to see if it fixable or just replace it.

A screw on the handle linkage backs out causing that. It would be covered under warranty. Call your dealer and talk with the service manager about it. They should be able to get the handle in (if they don't already have it) and then fix it while you wait. It is a common problem.

It is a common complaint according to the service manager of the heavy truck department at the dealer. I had the front passenger side handle do the same thing on my 2005 Kodiak. Dealer fixed it under warranty and said it usually only happens on the passenger side.

I have heard of mixed results in fixing it by applying Loc-Tite to the screw. Just thread locker by itself doesn't seem to help because of the direction the linkage moves twists the screw to loosen it.

I have heard that putting a thin nylon washer under the head of the screw and applying thread locker seems to work better.
