I had one and traded it in 2 years ago for 19,000. In my opinion, I think you can do better. Maybe 17 ish...

I really dont think its to good of deal myself. Its an 02 with only41000. You know that is really low miles. Do you know who owned it? Its real easy to buy a dash and keep miles off the one for the truck. And then on top of that its a gas burner. My father in law bought one of these and iy made him sick. It would get 9 mpg in town and 12 on highway drivinf easy. I tryed to tell him duramax. I myself think that is not a good deal at all. You spen that kind of money it can put you in 03 to 04 dmax, but will have more miled

$19k seems high. I'm thinking $17 or less. That truck is a dime a dozen. It's a basic 2500HD ex/sb 6.0l, should be able to find it anywhere. As far as the odo, I agree they were/are wasy to manipulate, but roughly 10k a year is good grocery getter driving for grandpa, so it may be accurate. Look for wear signs to tell. I'd talk them WAY down though.

Good way to compare is to go to carmax.com or autotrader and find a simular truck to compare numbers to.

I just got my '02 in October for $18K w/ 35K miles. Its got the 8.1L and Allison. I'd say it was a "fair" deal...but its got the bigger engine , Allison and bigger diesel rear axle.

I'd shop around a bit in your area...6.0L are plentiful...then again...hard to find low miles and a heavy duty truck that hasnt been beaten up.

Are you set on the '02? Tons of newer 6.0Ls around if you can stomach the front end treatment (angry headlights).

People may be still steering away from gas trucks since gas went through the roof last year. Plenty of good deals out there because of it.

Definitly shop around, here in NY you can pick up used 01-02 duramax's with high miles "80k-120k" for that money. These trucks are extra cab and/or crew cabs 4x4's also. I wouldnt say they are cherry but a good truck for the price.
