I bought the box off of a member, and it came with the heavy filter.Tracy;1569523; said:I did the change a couple of months ago and you will need the #7 they arn't the same, however I just lined things up and used metal screws into the fender to hold the airbox housing in place. A word of advice when you get a air filter there are two sizes of 97+ air filters and air box a heavy duty and light duty slightly smaller filter but still much more filter material area than the flat stlye of filter. I bought the heavy duty filter and couldn't get it to fit in the light duty housing.

There is more surface area on the cylindrical filter than te flat panel. It will increase in airflow.Fishnfool;1681269; said:Just found this thread and haven't heard of this modification - what would be the benefits of my changing out the air box and flat-style filter on my 96 to the later air box and cylindrical-style filter? I'm guessing better airflow and possibly better filtration?
