Is it as simple as removing the fuse labeled DRL/fog? Don't have OEM fog lights so pulled fuse and DRL's are off. After reading some horror stories others have had to go through to disable (and some not able to disable) I not believing it could be so easy for me.

That's what I did on my 98 1500. Worked for me.

Yup. Won't be visible as soon as I remember to take a piece of black electrical tape out to the truck. Problem is to remember I want to mask the light and be able to find one of the 4 or 5 rolls of tape that I have laying around when I'm headed out to the truck. I can always find one or more of the rolls when I'm looking for something else. Just don't seem significant enough to make a special trip to the truck.

If you do have the fog lights and want to keep them, instead of pulling the fuse you could just remove the DRL lightbulbs, or pull them out and hit them on the table hard enough to break the filaments but not break the glass and put them back in.
