'97 had "oil spray channels" drilled through the mains, not sure if it's an improvement as the channels may form cracks.

so 97+ is a more failure prone block than pre 97, anyone had trouble?

mine is a 97 K1500 6.5TD with 120000 miles, no work done except lift pump, and PMD twice

mine is or was apparently a 98. the truck is a 98. vin check says universal engine replace at like 56,000 kms. but it happened to the previous owner and was under warranty. not sure why it went but assume it had cracks as the cyl head on the right bank was replaced a few thousand kms prior.
