is it just a detergant thing or what? I ask because universal is generally found it quarts but outboard is easily found in gallons, which would be nice to carry around for mixing my diesel fuel with.

timberwolf, non-det engine oil has ash that will gum up rings. that is reason 2-cycle oil was manufactured. saw web site that explained between universal(air cooled) and TCW-1/2/3(two cycle watercooled engine). air cooled flashes off quicker as i remember it, tcw lingers to coat inside engine parts, due to opearating in water enviroment. either should work fine.
