I'm wondering if some of you would please give me your overall feeling on the Duramax. I'm considering purchasing a 01-03' and do not know that much about the vehicles. There will not be any heavy towing done, just normal driving and occasional 4X4 driving in the snow. Would you purchase one today knowing what you know? Also considering Ford and Dodge. I know this is a question based on opion but I'll ask it anyway. Thank you for your time.

You cant go wrong with the duramax.It will give you plenty of power and torque for your needs.There are guys on here that will help you in things you need to know about your choice.Good luck and go diesel.I to am new to the greasel duramax .And this site is full of information you will need.

I've had one since 2001, put 84000 miles on it and only had regular services done (oil change, lube, change atf and diff at 50000). The truck has been perfect. It's currently for sale (see Market Place) as I have a new 2007.5 on order. The only reason I'm getting a new one is I need a longer bed. My current one has a 6.5'bed, my new slide in camper needs a long bed. Good fuel economy 19-20 hwy, great power.

I have a family friend that has a duramax and he loves it. so yeah i think you should get one. (or a cummins of coarse)

just my opinion....but i just got my first dmax last aug, and its been an awsome truck so far, but it seems everytime i read a thread on this place another lb7 (engine from 01-04) is having injectors problems, yes warranty takes care of in years 01-03 but alot of ppl are having problems with the dealership doing this, and it is kinda a pain in the a** goin without a truck for a few days. so if i was goin to buy one with what i know now i would go with a LLY, or if i had enough money the lbz.....but ofcourse this is just my opinion
