I think in a lot of ways a 700 is weaker than a 350. The 3/4 clutch in the 700's isn't very big and running in 4th its got quite a load on it. The low 1st is nice and with the diesel its nice there is not a vacuum modulator to deal with.

A 400 with a 9" tail was only an inch or so shorter than a 4L80. Not sure about the diameter difference, I don't think it was that much bigger and the 400 did fit that body style. You already have an 80 and the controller for it?

The Vettes had a independent rear since 63 I think so its a little different game drive shaft wise than most cars being that the diff is bolted to the frame and does not really move. I don't remember if these still had U joints or if they used the hockey puck looking things like the European cars did.

Here is a video of a guy that did it. Seems like I found the video a couple years ago after finding a blog or forum the guy did on the build. No idea where that was it was too long ago for me to remember the details. I think it may have started with the guy just being bored and throwing a 5.7 diesel in there and then kinda evolved from there. It could be the wrong guy too.

I was wondering if the bell was a bit fatter on the 80. I suppose its likely a little fatter near the back too and I suppose they didn't leave any extra room anywhere in a vette.

If I have time later I will try and dig around and see if I can find the write up I remember reading. It had a lot of details about modifications and such. At the time I actually did poke around looking to see what I could get a vette for to do something similar.

Moving right along, you are not wasting any time.

Does this have U joints in the drive shaft or are they more of the hockey puck looking joints?

And I see you are updating your signature as you go.

Got any work done on the custom manifolds yet? I suppose an advantage to that is you can get the ins and outs where it helps the fit.

I caught the bit about you were posting somewhere else and not getting much interest. I didn't get how long ago or how far you were. I must have not looked that close at your signature before. Still 2-3 years looks like good progress.

We are real time now or are still catching up?

They will curve up I presume? Just guessing that because car manifolds usually swooped up and trucks went down so I would guess that would be the major 'rub' with stock manifolds.

Crossover going to be in the front?

Did this car originally have dual exhaust or was it sort of a y to single?

Front left was the most space? Interesting. I would have thought that side was tighter.

Stock battery location was back seat? Or was it still under the hood on these?

So the top of the stock radiator was in the general area of your air filter plate? You dropped it slightly lower and a little more angle? There must be some sort of scoops or something under there to push air up there? You keeping the factory ones or is that another thing that needed re designing? Ac condenser there already or is that coming?

Did you look at an intercooler? Almost looks like there could have been room but I don't know how big it would have to be to make a difference then I suppose getting cold air to it would be tricky with the space you have to work with there.

I'm jealous, most of my projects don't even get that far in my mind.

Different version of the transmission or did they just screw up when making the plugs?

How was the TPS install or were you able to use the original since the donor had a 4L80e?

Are we caught up yet?

Do you finish a a car project before starting the next one?

6's are a lot of fun. Dual exhaust headers will keep people guessing what is under the hood. Nothing sounds quite like em. I had a Mustang for a while with a 200 in it and at shows everyone was always around my car which was nothing special mostly stock except was the only 6. I almost bought a Pontiac with a OHC 6 in it last fall. That looked like an interesting engine. Always wanted to tinker with some of the straight 8's too. Seem em at shows but never heard one run or messed with one.

I just used 2 greased pieces of 14 gauge. Was fun the first time I pulled on em, sounds kinda like when you leaned on yours. Guess that is why the 'real' ones have a locking pin. I like the bearings and retainer.

Noise is good. What is the wire on the ac delete bracket?
