I was curious if this indicator will lower the readout percentage if I ever got some bad fuel and clogged the filter.
Currenty it's at 70% which I understand as meaning this is how much life the filter still has. If I'm missing something, please let me know. I'm trying to find a way that tells me when the fuel filter should be changed. Anyone?
Thanks, Mike

I doubt it will. I'm sure it works just the same way the Oil life does. Basically its just a calculation based off of numerous things like speed, throttle input, time, miles, etc.
It's not going to be smart enough to know you have a clogged fuel filter.

No it will not change, I clogged a filter a couple weeks back and it was at 80%. Its just a count down clock.

Don't walk--run right now out to your truck and changeout and then cut the filter in half cleanly{I use a metal blade on my PC cordless sawzall---app. 10 seconds}.Now you will see how black the more outer pleats are, getting slightly lighter in color going to the center.Don't rely on that readout--it can get you in trouble--it only knows miles-not the true state of it's useful filtering capacity. You can get a real bad load of fuel and the filter can get plugged immediately.I routinely change mine at 10-12K miles and always carry a spare with tools.
