I've been using these for over a year now, on two different trucks and they work great. I was able to secure both fine using only double-sided tape, they aren't going anywhere, and no holes drilled. They still look great, clean up nicely, and no scratches underneath. The tailgate unit used a lot of double-sided tape (it was already pre-installed on the piece itself) and I couldn't remove it from the first truck.. I started pulling on one corner and the aluminum bent. Renewed my faith in that 3M tape! I bought another tailgate guard since I couldn't get the old one off, and just moved the front one from the old truck to the new one. Here's a pic from the old truck:
