Ok, some time ago I posted about the ball mount below. It claims to be cushioned to help absorb some fo the shock. I was concerned about strength and its quality. I forgot to post up results.

I bought this mount and used it to tow in late October. I was towing my Jeep (CJ7) on a 18' towmaster trailer that is pretty heavy by itself. I imagine the total load was probably around 6k lbs all said and done. On the way home I had some idiot cut across I10 and come to a complete stop across my lane while trying to merge onto an exit. I was doing 65 and had to brake so hard the trucks ABS came on. I only stopped about a foot short from obliterating his Accord. I completely forgot about my concerns until I got home and was unloading. I looked it over and the ball mount looked perfectly fine. My buddy and I have looked at it closer since and we see no problems or damage from such a hard stop. My conclusion...this thing really works.

Just FYI

I guess I should mention that the trailer had surge brakes so the ball mount was taking the full force of the trailer and Jeep.
