Working on my buddies trans and everything was going pretty good until we went to replace the Converter flow valve. The stock slides in and out great, but the new PPE one will not go in all the way. Slides in to a point and stops. We are guessing it's the PPE valve and will be calling Monday. Just curious if anybody else has ran into this?

I just did mine last week and had a similar problem. i just lubed up the hole and the valve with ATF and gave it a little wiggle and it fell in. the holes and valves are so close in size that the smallest piece of hair will cause problems. i had a issue with my e-shift valve and that is what it was, a small piece of hair. ( thanks Mike L for the heads up) try some Carb cleaner in the hole and lube it up and try again. if that doesn't work i would definitely call PPE.

There are 2 different stators and 2 different TransGo converter flow valves. I have run into quite a few LLYs with the early stators in them - by default PPE sends the new style converter flow valve when you order for an LLY. Your kit most likely came with A1-LU-BST-04 which is made for 2004 and newer trucks, but we occasionally see the early stators in the LLYs and they require A1-LU-BST.

See the attachment for Stator Identification in the top right corner of the instructions that came with your TransGo converter flow valve

With the 04 Type you need to use A1-LU-BST-04.

With the 01 Type you need to use A1-LU-BST.

On the 01 Type stator you also need to replace the C1 backfill valve. You also need to do the drain back and pump prime kit where you replace the spings on the TCC limit valve and the Lube Regulator valve.

Good info, I was thinking you only had to replace the backfill valve on the 01-02.

Thanks a lot for the info. They ended up sending us the right valve

I ran into the same thing when I was building mine. I tried three difference valves and no matter what, it would not go in. Lubed up or not, it would go to a certain point and it was stuck there. I didn't want to damage my pump so I stuck with the stocker unfortunatley.

My suggestion is to take it back to the place that built it and let them deal with it for free. It is most likely a lock-up valve problem like you suspect. The Trans-Go Valves come with corrosion preventative coating that can cause them to get suck if you don't clean that coating off before installation.
