So I'm installing an overhead console in my truck that didn't come with one stock. The harness on the console has three wires orange grey and black. I'm guessing black is ground and the orange is hot, but what is the grey? Possibly a switched hot to come on with the dome light?


Secondly, I found an unused harness about the headliner and I'm not sure what its for. Its 4 wires, black, green, blue, and yellow IRCC. I don't have the roof marker lights or the auto dimming mirror, does it have something to do with one of these?

I was in the same situation not too long ago...does your truck at least have the bracket to clip the rear of the console in???
If not, I made some 304 stainless brackets that can be glued to the roof.
The harness you found is for electric mirrors. All the wires you need are in the A-pillar harness IIRC.

Yeah, the rear clips in just fine, but i still need to find the clip that goes into the roof for the front to screw into. Any idea where i could find one?

Dealer would be the best place for that square speednut. If you have a good autoparts store nearby, they may have one, too.

what did you use to glue the brackets to the roof? Cause mine dosen't have the bracket.

I used RTV high temp silicone to glue the bracket to the roof.
Below you see how the bracket looks like. Dimensions are in millimeters!!
