My '05 LLY has had head gaskets replaced, MA transfer case pump done along with normal wear & tear items . . . power steering hose, radiator, etc. Everything else is stock - no lift kit - no engine mods. Not sure how many miles are on it, as my odometer quit reading out a few years back . . . at that time it had about 120K miles . . . now, I'm gonna guess somewhere around 200K. It's my daily driver and occasionally tows a light (4K pound) travel trailer.

The truck runs great! I run a can of Sea Foam through it every few months.


So, I'm wondering if it's worth the money to get a chip? I'm only interested in improving my mileage, mostly when towing.



Any suggestions?

what is your current towing mileage? A EFI Live tune would be the best option verses a can tune as every truck is different.
The mpg gain is minimal and you have to ask yourself if the payback is worth it.
I would give a few vendors here a call and get their input. John Kennedy offers tuning and is a good listener. Just phone call...

I’d leave it alone frankly. You won’t get a worthwhile increase in mileage with a tune (if any.) More power, sure.
