I purchased my first diesel a few months ago (2005 chev excab 4x4)and I was wondering if these air systems live up to their claims and if so can they ke used in The great White North where temps ca dip to - 30C and if the do which should I buy.( Airaid, K&N, etc.)

a lot of guys say that most aftermarket systems pass too much dust..also the factory filter flows as well as the aftermarket..dealer did the 06 cai upgrade on mine (free),but i think that ended in september 06..might check with your local dealer..joncar

The stock air cleaner works really well. In fact there are some test reports I have seen here on the DP, that ranked the factory air filter as the best.

Now on to the cooling aspects... Here is a report on my testing of a CAI mod. http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45284 It's still on my truck and performs just the same as it did the day it was installed..

I prefer it over the o6 air box because it uses the filters that are 20.00 less and performed very well in the tests.

I agree with Swatkins

I have the TxC cold air kit and it works exactly as he described. I monitored the temps with a Predator.
