I have a 2002 Duramax. I need to replace the clockspring. I have the airbag and steering wheel removed, but don't know how to remove the clockspring. Can anyone tell me how to get it off the column. Thanks.
Here are the instructions. There is a snap ring that holds the clock spring on the column shaft. Remove that and slide it out.
1: Disable the SIR system.
2:Remove the steering column trim covers. Remove the wire harness assembly out of the wire harness strap
3:Remove the 3 wire harness straps from the wire harness assembly.
4:Remove the wire harness strap from the upper tilt head assembly.
5:Remove the SIR steering wheel module coil retaining clip. 6:Remove the SIR steering wheel coil.
7:Remove the wave washer from the steering column upper shaft
