Hey guys,

I've been doing some reading on the flywheel problems with the Duramax, and have some rather basic questions (I looked for threads, but perhaps I missed them). First off, what do SBC and DMF mean?

Essentially the stock setup is bound to fail?

Thanks.

SBC = South Bend Clutch (manufacturer)
DMF = Dual-Mass Flywheel
SMF = Single-Mass Flywheel
DDC = Dual-Disc Clutch
SDC = Single-Disc Clutch

Stock setup is bound to fail, but when? That is a million dollar question...
Rather a $2000 question, as that's about what you are going to spend on a new flywheel and clutch...

Lots of great reading here. A search can answer many questions, but always feel free to ask!

Good Luck, and Welcome!

Ty

I have hear on one guy on here talking about his Rat having problems with his flywheel but other than him I have not heard of any others. I wouldn't think they would have to have a DMF due to the smooth running nature of the gas job.

If this is true, about the 8.1 having a SMF, has anyone tried this flyweel behind a Dmax??? Probably won't handle the torque-:t . Of course, the DMF won't handle it either :muahaha: .Anyone hear of someone trying it????
