Actually my center caps and lugs are rusting bad. Here they use magnesium chloride on the roads. How do I prevent this other than not using my truck?

I will end up getting new caps and lugs but I dont want them trashed either.

Lugs are hard to keep from rusting, because even if they are chrome plated, the plating gets damaged from installing the nuts. The only permanent solution for them is to get stainless ones.

As for the center caps, you can clean them and then either keep waxing them, or you might try clear coating them.

The chrome gets damaged due to taking on and fof. Stainless or constant polishing is the only fix.
