Thoughts on the below scenario?

-1 degrees...
Grill Cover is not on…
Plugged in 5 Hours – definitely had power at the plug...
Started normal – glow plug light came on for only a second...
Idled to warm up 10 to 15 minutes
Truck read outside temperature at 4 degrees… House thermometer read -1
Drove about 2 minutes… outside temp dropped to 2 degrees...
Drove 8 -10 minutes - half 35 MPH then 50 MPH...
I felt a loss of power and Check Engine Light came on… speed dropped a few MPH.
Oil Pressure, Temperature, Fuel, Volt… all Gauges all normal – no other lights…
Press on the accelerator and you can feel a loss of power – speed drops… about 5 MPH...
Hold accelerator and speed holds...
Running smooth, even with power drop...
Drive a few minutes and accelerate, and the truck accelerates normaly…
Another 5 minutes and accelerate and there is a loss of power…
A couple more minutes and acceleration is normal… Can achieve 60 MPH
This happens several times in 20 minutes – truck has been running 35 – 40 minutes…

Deceleration rate when you press the pedal is about the same as you would expect to feel accelerating…
Fuel tank filled Monday, same place as usual – a pint of PowerService Diesel Fuel Supplement +Cetane Boost (the white bottle) was added after fill up – driven about 45 miles Tuesday…

Water in fuel filter?
Gelling?

Temp is up to 5 degrees - runs fine but Check Engine Light is still on after 3 restarts.

Best thoughts...

Thanks, RG

Nope - I don't have a diagnostic tool... this is the first time I would have had a use for one so guess I'll have to look into getting one...

I can update that the CEL is off and that the truck runs fine... temps up to 15 degrees... Personally I think that the fuel was starting to gel, Mech at the dealer said water inthe fuel filter... crap shoot - could be either... or...

OnStar diagnosis?
No OnStar... On the truck... Nada lotta bells and whistlez...

Still running fine... although I smaked a Deer yesteday morning... $1918.16 all damage is in the front below the headlights...

Guess I'll find out the hard way... gunna make sure the fuel is treated heavier when we get another cold snap... if it acts up we will have the Mech take a look...

Thanks, RG
