Look in the owners manual to verify, but I believe the 2011 on up 2500hd trucks use a synthetic GL4 gear lube like 80/90. Last one I did took 2-3 quarts. I'm unsure what differences if any, there are between your transfer case and the 2011 thru 2019 trucks.

I used ac delco manual transmission/ transfer case fluid in a 2007. Takes 2 quarts.

I have had great luck with the merchant automotive transfer case fluid. 2 quarts and your good to go.

I want to change the fluid in my transfer case. Anybody know what kind of fluid i need too put in and how much?. I have a 2008 gmc sierra 2500hd 4x4
Your Owners Manual page 6-15
Transfer Case (Four-Wheel Drive) DEXRON®-VI Automatic Transmission Fluid.
Your Manual doesn’t give capacity but it’s 2 quarts.
I have used Allison Transynd oil and Mobile1 5w-30

Good ole Mobil 1 Synthetic 5-30 in mine for ages. No HOLES so far....crossed fingers.....Your truck....your decision.
