Reading another thread it looks like Nor Cal does a custom "center dump" option for the exhaust. Do any of the exhaust companies make a kit like that or is it only a custom job. I am looking for a place in SoCal to get this done. Any help would be appreciated.

I have an electric cotout from DHM on my truck and love how it sounds.

Also surprising enough there is not that much soot under the truck.

I like it becasue when you want it to be loud you can be and when you want to be quite with the stock exhaust is just a flick of a switch away. i will try to get some pics of it when i get a chance.

bulitnv,

Be sure you want this as sound/drone can be an issue and the soot will collect under the truck and get ugly etc.

Mark,

I am running a stock exhaust minus the muffler right now. How would a center dump pipe cause more of a drone than a side pipe providing the muffler remains the same?

Don't get me wrong, I don't mine the extra drone or sound, just wondering what the difference would be?

So...................does anybody make the kit? Or is it custom?

No extra drone here. (I am the one who posted the NCT center dump thread, search center dump). I think that it made the exhaust sound better, especially when standing next to the truck. Before, when standing on the pass side of the bed, you could really hear the "hair dryer" effect (I have a downpipe back system). Now with the center dump, you don't hear the "hair dryer" effect so much. You hear more of that great MBRP / V8 rumble.

Also, soot doesn't seem to be an issue. I am running my hypertech at level 3.

bulitnv,

The Drone is actually a vibration set up in the pipes, less pipe equals less weight and tends to make the situation worse. When you tow, especially if you tow heavy will tend to increase the vibration/drone too as you have loaded the truck and even smaller inclines will increase it as the load is increased etc. As far as soot it does depend on the mods you have done or not done a stock truck won't soot up too badly, but one with a hot program injectors etc etc will make a mess over time. Can get on the trailer you're towing too.

Did they have to make any custom bends or is it all just cutting and welding? I would really like to see some pics of the pipes and welds if you wouldn't mind?

They just used the existing tail section and made two cuts. One cut right after the bend leaving the muffler and another cut to turn the pipe down to receive the tip.

Apparently the FORD only take one weld. The Chevys/GMC take two welds.

Could you show me some pics of the cuts and welds I really want this but, NorCal is just a little too far from New Orleans!
