Hello All! I am a new Chevy owner. Just traded my 05' Ford F350 Powerstroke for a 07' 2500HD CC 4x4 Dmax...loaded with every option.

I have been die hard Ford for many years, but this was just a logical choice. First impressions I can tell you that the Dmax is quiter, smoother, more powerful, warms up quicker, and has many, many more features for the money than Ford. I don't like the IFS front suspension, would rather have a solid front axle, and don't like the little tires! Otherwise, nice truck.

On to my question. Going to do exhuast first, no tuner. I wondered which MBRP system I should get, the turbo back or cat back? I had heard that a exhaust would cause error codes on the 07? Please provide me with first hand experience and suggestions.

Thank you all.

I have not set a code yet, empty or towing. Love the sound and there's no drone. (a little over 5,000 miles on exhaust)

I just cut the muffler out, and not much has changed. I guess I'm going to have to order a 4 " turbo back system if I wanna even hear the difference. Cross fingers for no codes!

Are you happy with the sound of the turbo back system?

KraftyHD,

On folks with 2004.5+ trucks we always reccomend that you start with a cat back system and see if it gets you the EGT drop and turbo spool up increase you need, if so stop there as you won't have to add fingersticks and block off plates etc. If you need more then add the front pipe and if you are lucky you might not get a CEL light anyway!! Plus if you get a cat back vs an Off Road System you can bolt the cat back in at any time to help keep the dealers happy warranty wise. Plus the cats on new trucks actually flow pretty good as compared to a few years ago!

If you have questions let us know Monday, we stock all the MBRP and AFE systems and will be glad to help you on them or questions you might have.

I'm very happy with my MBRP catback "cool duals". No drone and not too loud - but you can tell they are there when you get on it. With the catback you don't need to install the blocker plate and "finger", plus you don't need to worry about the 'stealer' getting bent outta shape. Used to have a Banks "Monster" exhaust on my last D/A, but I like the MBRP better - no drone with the MBRP.

i love the sound of the turbo back system. going down the interstate with the cruise set it sounds like a big block motor. in town you get that loud turbo whistle. either way i like them both.

I got the MBRP downpipe back, liked it alot. Just recently put the cat back on for warranty. The cat definately makes it quieter. I then got rid of the muffler completely, running straight pipe from the cat back. I cannot tell any difference between the cat back muffler system and the cat back straight pipe. Both power and sound (loudness) seem to be the same. I am leaving the muffler out. Good luck!

Best thing to do is get a cat-back kit and the front-pipe (cat-delete) seperate. This way, you can swap the cat back in for dealer visits/emissions inspections etc. If you get the 5" kit, be sure to get the correct front-pipe as they have different part numbers. If you have any questions, give us a holler. We sell/install these systems everyday.

Ok, so I'm settled on the MBRP. Now I must decide wether to get cat back or turbo back. Taking into consideration I'm planning on running the Diablo Sport Programmer, and possibly an intake; I'm thinking maybe the 4" turbo back would be the ticket...or possibly the 5" cat back.

I'll push my luck with the codes, and if necessary get a block off and finger stick from Kennedy.

Did you use a finger stick? I am more worried about getting codes and warrenty issues. I thought that if you went from "cat back" your warranty would still apply.

:exactly: The slight improvement you get without the cat is not worth the headache you get from the dealer. You have a brand new truck, stuff happens. You will be very satisfied with a four inch system. Check out our Silverline systems before you make your decision. You will be glad you did.;)

^thank you! your post and the post you quoted is quality information that I look forward to. Not just a one line response that doesn't answer anything. I have the exact feelings about an exhaust that you described. I do not want to make it a race truck. I do not want to worry about any warranty issues. I do not want to worry about passing inspection. I just want an improved sound and look. A cat-back exhaust is for me and I think I'm going with Silverline! You don't happen to know the cost of a 304 system, do ya?
