Alright, so I STILL cant figure out how to turn on the high idle.

I have tried the following w/ the Key in the ON position w/ the motor off:

1. Press Gas, then press brake 3 times.
2. Press Gas and HOLD and press brake 3 times.
3. Press Brake, press gas 3 times.
4. Press Brake and HOLD and then Gas 3 times.
5. Beep 3 times, :flipa:, press both gas, brake and turn signal :duh: on the steering wheel and open and close the door.. Still no luck. :wtf:

Is there a Message that is displayed once it is successfully activated?!
For the life of me I cant figure out how the heck to turn on the high idle?!
I have a LS w/ the DIY (Do-It-Yourself) computer (No buttons on the steering wheel). I have tried this numerous times in temps -20 degrees F, and have let it idle for up to 10 mins to warm it up.

Also, I have the Edge programmer w/ a Turbo timer on it. When I pull out the key the motor runs for ~1 min afterwords. Once I figure out how the heck to turn on this stupid high idle, will the high idle kick in if its below the 150 degree mark and the turbo timer is running? (Engine key is in Off position).

If you have the DIC then you activate it through the DIC.

So do I need to mash the accelerator to set it?
Press and hold the accelerator and raise the RPMs to 1200rpms manually?
This sounds like the DIY system again lol

Any other Ideas? Once I start it, I do not press the gas, break or anything. If anything I reach over and turn off the vent cause -20 degree air coming out and blowing on you is COLD!

Also, I have the plain jane Steering wheel w/ a Horn built in.. nothing else.

This is my Steering wheel.

I have the same steering wheel you have I turned my high idle on you use your brake or accelerator petal with the engine off and a message pops up on your information thing. I cant remember how I did it but followed the directions in the owners manual. Ill try to find it tomarow and post the procedure for you if you dont have any luck finding it.

if you do it right... where the odometer and trip meter are it shoudl pop up a message that says high idle enabled or disabled. make sure your turning the key to the run position without startign the truck not just the accesory position. gotta go 2 clicks on the ignition. then do the dying gerbil dance. I think its press the throttle to the floor and then puump the brake 3 times and you only have 8 seconds to do it if I recall. so as soon as the key hits the position get goin.

I also read in another post today someone had to remove his edge to reset his change oil message. might have to do that to do the high idle setting also.

I presume you're giving it a couple of minutes before it kicks on. I won't go into high idle right away. Also, is the outside temp at 30 deg or colder? High idle won't activate if the intake air (I believe at MAF sensor) isn't cold enough. If all those conditions are met, it's likely your programmer.

Weird.. Here is the thing..
I have Reset the oil life before with the edge programmer.. that is simple and has been done multiple times.

Since there is a turbo timer on there I had to turn on "Clear Engine codes on startup". Wonder if that is affecting it in anyway? But why would it work w/ the oil life reset?

There is only 1 click on mine, if i turn it forward accessories and everything turnes on, if i Pull it back its just the radio.

So, its Gas then brake 3 times?

Yep, turn the key on, hold the "gas" pedal to the floor and tap the brake pedal 3 times quick. At the odometer it will read high idle ON or high idle OFF.

That would be awesome.
I tried 5 different times to try and get that "High idle" message to show up on the DIC but I cant get it working. I have done the oil before so I know that it works. It was -7 last night so Im sure it was more than cold enough, I started up the truck got out and let it idle while I shoveled snow for 15 mins.. never heard the high idle kick in or anything!

With the key in the on position (Truck not running) press the accelerator to the floor and release. Tap the brake peddle 3 times with in 8 seconds. The DIC will display High Idle Enabled or (Disabled) depending on the previous state.

Also remember that it takes a minute or two for the High Idle to engage after starting your truck.

Here is my cheat sheet

I have it stuck to the visor on the sticker Chevy put there

Elevated Idle
Press the accelerator pedal to the floor and hold while quickly pressing the brake pedal three times in less than eight seconds.
FUEL FILTER LIFE RESET
Wait five seconds. Completely press the brake and the accelerator pedals simultaneously and hold for ten seconds.
Reset the Engine Oil Life
Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds.

It is handy to have this info easily available. This is directly out of the owners manual

BTW if you want fuel mileage info buy a scanguage.

www.scanguage.com

I have one and love it! It reads and clears codes, works as a trip info center, and also guages. Cheap combo for less than $170

make sure you are not hitting the break pedal to fast and not letting it come all the way back up my buddie was doing that i tried if for him and it worked fine. also i beleave in the owners manuel it said if ther is any faults in the breaking or accelerator systems it will not actavate. and if you have any other messages on your info center DIC it seemed like it would not want to to engage or disengage high idle but that is just my expereince.

well, i read the owner's manual and the only thing i saw was for a vehicle with steering wheel controls. maybe the ADD was preventing me from seeing the rest. so without steering wheel controls, are those 3 things the only stuff i can control?

I might be wrong (wont be the first time, and not the last time), but does the stereo unit control some of the dic features? My truck has the stearing wheel controls, but my wifes impala has the stereo that controls everything. You can reset oil, tire pressure, and security.

Still no luck on getting the high idle to kick in.
Im wondering if it has something to do w/ the Edge programmer??

Since I have the turbo timer setup on there, I have it to clear engine codes on startup. (I have to do it because otherwise it jacks stuff up if i dont w/ the turbo timer running w/ nothing else running).

Im wondering if this is causing the setup to mess up. I'll try it in the morning again.
