The two I have seen most often on this forum is the Oilguard and the AMSOIL. I just ordered a dual remote bypass AMSOIL. Kennedy makes a replacement thred which I will order that allows replacement of the AMSOIL filter with a normal filter. I don't know if the Oilguard has a unique filter requirement or not. I sure they both work well.

I check most of the oil by pass filtration system's out. They all have there pro's an con's. I went with the Amsoil By-Pass I think it is the best for my situation. All I want to do is try make this truck last. I don't care to much of the cost of the Amsoil filters that I will have to buy . I think they are a little over priced. Maybe I can find them made by some other Co. I think any of these by-pass system would be better then none at all.

I'm using the Amsoil dual remote setup. As far as the price of the filters, I think maybe you're getting what you pay for in this case.


You're going to have to fabricate a bracket, as the torsion bar sort of complicates things. I believe Greg Landuyt @ lube specialists sells a bracket he designed and has available.


I mounted mine to the floor pan, and I do have a whining noise that apparently comes from the oil pump. More noticeable at slow speeds on cold engine. I do intend to build a frame bracket, just have had other priorities.

I have a bracket that will work. I'm waiting on getting around 7500 miles on the engine before I switch to synethic oil an changing over to the BY-PASS.
I know I bit the bullit when I purchased the Amsoil by-pass. I just hope there is some filter co. out there I will find. It never hurts to keep looking ,one never knows what might show up.
