Just bought my 2.8l duramax canyon slt. Trying ro get a build sheet and dind out more information on a dtc for emissions stating a warmup timer expired requiring service. Also where can i find the block heater connection? Im told by my dealer it has one but the connection is not readily seen anywhere. Thanks

For finding a build sheet on your vehicle I would visit your local GM dealer. They should be able to print out what you need.
Usually, GM will tuck the Block heater cord connection up behind the headlight or close to the battery. Look in those locations.

GM social media will send you a build sheet if you give them the vin.
Any gm dealer can print one.

The Canyon SLT is a 2020?

Block heater appears to be an option on the LWN

Is the 2020 Canyon the same as the 2019?
This diagram is from the 2019 Diesel supplement
(couldn't find a 2020 version for the 2.8L; earlier supplement included info and diagrams for both the 6.6 and the 2.8)

Thanks i did look all around the battery i cant see underneath or behind the headlight. But i will look a little deeper just to be sure. My concern is the emissions timer dtc that keeps appearing on cold days. It usually goes away once outdoor temps rise above 40f for 3 drive cycles.

Try to locate the freeze plug/heater on the side of the engine block and just follow the cord running from it

Did you contact social media at GM or a dealer and get the build sheet?

Another option is read the QR code on the truck door post. (replaces the rpo code list label that they used to put in the glove box)

If so does it show K05?

Block heater is standard with 6.6 and the 3.0, but optional on the 2.8.
Might not have one.


How many miles?
Is it still under the 3/36?

Shouldn't throw a code because it wasn't plugged in.
