A boost gauge is nice to have but not necissary on your LB7 if you arnt going to touch your WG. It will make diagnosis of problems if they come up ect and help with tweaking and tuning as well as add some help in launching ect......but its not really needed to keep from blowing up your truck or turbo if thats what you are asking.

What Mr. Ratlover said on the boost gauge. The EGT gauge is the real gauge these trucks sould come with, and should be added right away to keep from slowly burning them up with any kind of hard work that might be done with it or any added power. Definitely critical to a long engine life.

A boost gauge can come in real handy when diagnosing problems, you can get a good mechanical boost gauge from Autometer for pretty cheap, so it is prob worth looking into.
