I have a 05 GMC 2500HD D/A. My problem is every time I hook up the trailer the 10amp fuse for the center brake light on the cab blows. I don't know if it's the trailer or the brake controler. What are your thoughts?
If you have an "On/Off" brake controller which is wired to the brake light, it sounds like it is not uncommon to blow the CHMSL 10A fuse.
Some say to replace this fuse with a 15A to stop blowing it. Replacing any fuse with a higher amp rating can work as long as your sure you don't overlaod the wiring and start a fire.
You could try hooking up to someone else's trailer and see if you still have a problem, which would eliminate your trailer as the problem.
I'm not sure if this is a good idea, but here's a previous link with the same problem. http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=65054&highlight=CHMSL
