Living in ND in the past I can say I never had a problem. I would think as long as the temp stays below 25-30 deg its ok

Why? It's just a simple heating element. I have left my truck plugged in for extended periods of time with no problems.

I've never got a code, and like plugging it in whenever it is freezing or below. I really like getting heat right away, and the motor sounds much happier when plugged in over night.

Or simply get a timer.More than 8 hours is just making your electric co. richer but no,you won't hurt your heater.

Yeah,my old '01 LB7 took that long to warm up--I cut it in half by running both factory bras.As for the block heater, you're fine to go at any temp.with your engine--won't hurt a thing--I always was plugged in from 25 and colder.
