Costco
At their website under tires, try "2005", "Chev Truck", "Silverado 3500 LB Ext. Cab SRW" to see them.

(Some time ago Costco stopped letting you enter tire sizes because, they said, too many dummies were getting tires that didn't fit, and then complaining. They called them "customers"; I called them "dummies".)

I just bought some AT KO's at America's tires. They only had 2 in stock and I had to wait for the others to be shipped from Reno. Took about 5 days.

Michelin Makes an LTX M+S in a 265/75R16 LRE which is a 10 ply. They are good for most driving except mud. I have had good luck with them on my company truck. Good in snow and rain and dry. Wear really good.

Has anyone had any problems getting Costco to put 265's on a 2500hd?

I've been wondering about this too. Yes, the 3500 comes with 265's, but it also comes with a 7" wheel. Anyone had Costco mount 265's on their factory 6.5" 2500 wheels?

I second the motion on the Michelin LTXs in 265. I have run those BFG ATs since 01 and I was averaging about 25,000 miles before they were chewed up. I only run them from November to late MArch here in WV. This year I was tired of that wasted money as the BFGs are one of the most expensive tires in that size, so I changed to the BFG Commercial TA Traction model in the 245s. so far I like them, but in the summer months, the Michelins are the bomb. I have just at 45,000 miles on a set I have had for 3 summers and this coming one will be the 4th and I expect to have to replace them next year. So I should get around 60,000 miles out of them. The ride great, excellent in the rain, balance smooth, and very durable. I know from all of these years, that I will no longer waste my money on the BFG AT KOs for these heavy, heavy trucks. they may be a great tire on a half ton truck, but for these 4 ton trucks, they just do not last for the money they cost.

Good Luck with the decision, I sweated my decision as I really liked the BFG ATs, but I could not justify the wear versus cost issue. 25,000 miles is just not enough.

I tried to get some 265's on my truck at Costco and was shot down. They were pretty adamant about it.

I still think that they are the best around for service. I had a set of Michelin Cross terrains wear prematurely on my Yukon XL and they pro rated them and swapped them out for a new set on the spot.

Costco went to a no change in original size (size on sticker on door) on the truck more than 3% in either direction and they are pretty strict about it.

Costco

Yes, Costco has gotten very sticky about sticking to the original tire specs. When I wanted to put BFG's on my 2000 RAV4, I couldn't because it was only speed rated for something like 104 mph but the factory tire was 112 (going off of memory here). Ummm, I said I don't think it can go that fast and if it could I certainly wouldn't be in it!!

They don't care if it is reasonable any more; they're going by the book. I sense the legal department has gotten involved.

I was in a costco the other day, talked with the manager and he said that they can't put the 265's on a 6.5 inch rim (stock 2500 Rim). He said the difference was something like 3.9%. I guess he talks to the higher ups about it almost every week, and maybe by the spring they might be able to do it. He said that he could still sell me the tire, $11 less a tire, and I could get them put on somewhere else. And they would still do the rotations and warranty work on them. They were $239 a tire. (Edit: Canadian $$)

The guy at my Costco said the warranty was still good also but he just couldn't install. Go figure!

Yes that is what I ended up doing on our Grand Cherokee. Bought some BFG 31x10.5 at Costco and had them installed at Big-O. They we still cheaper, but it was sort of a pain. I am going to see if Sears on America's Tires has them. Thanks for all your help...

I have 265x75x16 BFG AT KOs ) D rated) on my stock rims and I can tell you, at tire pressures above 50 lbs the outside of the tire is not touching the ground when the truck is parked.
Truck is an 02 2500 HD Ex Cab 4x4.

I'd agree. Liability reason is the biggest. Somewhere, someone sued somebody (Firestone/Bridegstone and/or Ford) because of incorrect tire size and the powers that be have laid down the parameters to help protect themselves. Wallyworld says the same thing. However having said that, I was able to get a guy at a location here in the Dallas area sell me some on closeout and they put 'em on.

Look into the General Grabber AT2. They are E rated, have a tread pattern similar to the All Terrain TA and are about $60 cheaper per tire. Just my $.02 worth.

MGlick LBZ,

Where'd you get your Grabber AT2's? Approx how much did they run you per tire?
