Ok. I have ruled out the Rhino Liner based on comments from the forum. I greatly appreciate all of your responses.

However, my 2007 2500 is so NICE!!! I almost hate to spray the tub with LineX. But I also hate to put anything in the bed as well. I am not in the construction business......yet......but hopefully will be soon. I have noticed that I do load most things over the side as it's easier for me. I am 6'4". I think the plastic liner would probably end up scratching the paint if dirt gets underneath. But I think the plastic on the rails looks cleaner also.

Let me know of your opinions because I need to make a decision soon. Maybe I could LineX the tub and put the plastic runners on the rails?!?!? I need some helpppp!!!!!!!! Thanks!

you can always have the lineX over the rails if you want. In my opinion the LineX is way better than any plastic liner. the plastic will scratch the paint and rust the bed. with my 06 dmax I went with a color matched Line X most folks dont even notice it untill they look at the bed good and when they do notice it they love it. now unlike a plastic liner I can put things in the back and they dont hardly slide around anymore also.

Carcrafter22.......

Great point about the sliding around. My truck is white. Our local LineX dealer said he ONLY DOES BLACK. I'm not even sure if white LineX would even look good. Hell if I know what to do..........Please............more posts!!!

I have had Rhino, Line-X and plastic drop-in liners. Bottom line, I like the Line-X best and would do it again.

It is about the same price as the Rhino (where I live, at least) and is a much better product. I like how things stay put better than the others.

If I had to prioritize them, IMO they would be (from best to worst), Line-X, Rhino, plastic drop-in.

I had the Line-X on the the rails and it looks good. My truck is Silver Birch and the Line-X is black. I had the Rhino in a white pickup and it also looked good as long as I took the time to keep it looking new.

Also, there was a lot of rust underneath the plastic liner after only about 2 years. I live in a relatively dry climate.

I too have had all three ( Plastic, Rhino and LineX). I had the dealer installed bed liner(plastic) in my 02 2500 HD, got tired of the stuff sliding around in the bed, not to mention warping in the heat. I had a rhino liner installed and it looked great, however over time faded and gouged easily. When I purchased my 07 Classic I went with the lineX, by far the best investment for me. I went with the over the rail install, it looks great.

Under the rail Line-x and a set of diamond plate bed rail caps. The diamond plate will protect the bed against drops much better.

Line-X definitely...only type of liner I will put in any truck in the future after getting it in this one.

I'm going to Line-X this week. Did the plastic liner in my k1500 and it wasn't a good experience. A few friends have the Line-X and I have been impressed with how long it has lasted and how durable it is.

My vote is for spray in liner over plastic....I also had a hard time about the spray- in with my truck when new, we only really only planned to use the truck for RV'ing.....but you will get over new thing truck thing in a short time and just want to do upgrades and things to protect it for the long run.

Also when the truck is new, it is a great time to do a spray in a liner, the rust or corrosion has not really started yet, so a good time to protect the box.

I've had rubber bed mats & plastic liners in other trucks and never again !!

THAT sounds like a sweet idea however can I use something other than diamond plate? My truck is a fully loaded LT3 Diesel. It has all of the bells and whistles. It's so damn pretty........I don't want to mess it up and make her too commercial looking.

you can get all kinds of rail protectors, black vinyl, stainless, diamond plate ,black or bright. i had a set of black vinyl on mine but when i got the spray in liner ,i took them off and had the rails sprayed as well. it really does'nt look bad at all, and if ya put a tonneau cover on it you'll never see the rails. if ya dont like the rail caps you can get a set of stinless rails that sit on top of the siderails, i would do something to protect them cause sooner or later you will scratch'em. one more option is the clear plastic they use for protecting the rocker panel .

If I were you,I'd go with stainless--much,much easier to keep perty over ADP.Go to your local metal fabricating place and have them make a small return for a more finished look.

I would go linex and plastic rail caps. The dooleys come with the plastic caps and a quick shot of Armorall or other plastic protector keeps them looking good. Linex over the rails tends to discolor over time with a whitesh haze. Plastic bed liners are a waste in my opinion, sand gets under them and wears the paint off causing rust, plus heavy loads slide around and can leave a wicked dent in the bed if you ever have to make an emergency stop. (and yes the tie down straps will break.):D

m. gil and Tuney443........PERFECT !!!

Where can I get clear or stainless from? I would LOVE either one. However, if I do get the rails sprayed, can I still put the stainless on top? I will not have a cover on my bed. It'll be open. Anyone have pix of clear or stainless....not diamond plate...Let me know.

Yes you can. I was just about to suggest that. In fact I wouldn't put caps on without spraying liner over the sides. I've seen caps scratch the paint underneath on more than one occasion. I have had Line X over the rails on my truck for about a year and a half now and, with the exception of a gouge from dragging a 14 bolt across the tailgate, it is still in perfect shape. It also hides dings pretty good. One good thing about Line X is it dries almost instantly so you don't have to wait to use your bed after it is sprayed and it's covered by a lifetime warranty so if you do get a gouge or a cut you can take it back to any dealer across the country and have it fixed. You really can't go wrong with it in my opinion.

Plastic liners stink. They scratch the paint, rub and then allow and trap water and dirt against exposed bed. Line x it.
