Total newbie question...but will the banks six gun be able to up the factory speed limiter? Or adjust for tire size? I know that the predator can do this, but im curious about the banks because i am leaning towards them.

I don't know anything about the LBZ 6-gun but the others dont adjust for tire size or raise the speed limiter. They do have alot of other good features you cant get in a programer like trans slip protection egt protection and shift on the fly.

i could be wrong but the only way banks can adjust the tire size and speedo is if you get the 6gun(650-700) and the pda another 650

Yeah i was thinking that doing the PDA option would be best. That would be great if the PDA could correct the speedo and speed limiter, but the egt protection and trans slip protection are more important to me i think. Seems like all of the programmers can make the power, including banks, but the trans will need to be upgraded. I want just a level two, all the time, setting, so that i dont fry an expensive allison. They dont sound cheap to rebuild, so i guess im a poor guy playing a rich mans game:D Thanks for the replies

not for nuttin...but if your only looking to do the second setting all the time why spend over a grand for 60 hp. granted your getting ther safety features but you could get those with an edge evo. for 1/4 of that price.
for the amount your gonna save on the banks your could buy the edge and afford to doa shift kit in the trans.

Yeah, if you're just wanting a small program, you don't have to spend a small fortune. Most companys make a small plug and play that will have a max output of 60-80hp for a lot less money. If you're worried about the tranny, I wouldn't with a small program like that. A shift kit would be a good thing to do, but don't worry about a 4k overhaul. If you have and LBZ then your tranny will hold up just fine. I have a 180hp program running through mine and it's wide open all the time on a stock tranny! No probs!

If your only after a small increase then hold off for the new Banks Bullet they are going to release soon. This is acording to my sales guy at Banks. Max setting only adds 60hp and 100lb-ft at the wheels. It will have the boost and pyro gauges built in for $299.

From the literature i have read here, it seems like banks has done more research in the refinement of their tunes. Im ignorant here, but it seems like more quality. But maybe a predator or edge evo would be a better option for the money. Id like to have the egt and boost readouts though. Dumb question... would a 85 hp tune with 4" catless exhaust have a similar EGT as a stock tune/stock exhaust? Seems like the tuners always throw another 200* into the egt, but exhausts seem to be about as effective at reducing them the same amount.

The simple answer is NO. The 85hp tune will burn up your engine if you tow much wieght. I run the 85hp tune on my 06 GMC LBZ but I have water injection to keep things OK. I top out at about 1200 with WI but would go much higher if i did not have WI. First hand exp! Without towing it has been safe, just keep off Full T going up hill but then 85hp on top of LBZ hp you don't need Full T to pass even uphill.

The Hypertec 3 will adjust for tire size and change the top speed limiter. They only cost about $280 if bought through the right place. I have towed on level 2 and EGT temps never got above 1100. It will also increase milage. Some members have had problems with the trans not shifting right on level 3 but 1 & 2 are ok with most trucks. The Hypertec is a good programer for the $.
There are allot of tuners out there less expensive that Banks and will do a good job.
Hope this helps.

I second the hypertec and have had mine on level 3 for 7k with no issues.
The tranny does learn at first but just romp her a few times and she figures it out. It does everything you are asking for so to me it is a no brainer at $280

yeah...if you buy an adjustable programmer start out on a lower tune for the tranny and work your way up to the tune you plan on using all the time. That is what i did with my bully dog. upped the power every 2 days...now i run in extreme all the time once it gets warmed up.

I have talked to a bunch of service techs at my dealership and they have customers with crazy tunes, nitrous, propane injection and not one of them have had tranny problems. I've been told these transmissions will hold plenty of power. Just hate to see someone spend crazy money on a trans. that is not needed.
