Well this problem started about 8 weeks ago on my 05 Duramax crew cab
with the heat on and motor at opperating temp there is a strong smell like a burnt resistor,Brought it in twice, The dealer said they cleaned out some leaves or debris in the blower area, I would rather fix it myself that bring it in and loose it for a day, Is there a resistor pac that controls the blower speed? Anyone else run into this? Thanks

Yes there is a resistor, and it sounds like yours is bad.Check to see if the fan works on all 5 speeds on the blower motor, you will probably find one or more aren t working. My 02 goes in tommorow for new blower motor and resistor, motor is $155.00 and resistor is $45.00 plus 1 hour labor.

yeah, check the resistor. it's right next to the blower, just follow the wires from the blower to the resistor. i have see many resistor burn up, and sometimes the connector melts as well. so check the terminals of the connector.
