Back in and running but pissing coolant all over, looks to be coming from the pipe that comes out of the thermostat housing to the egr cooler.
Tried the o-ring from my parts engine and broke that one too.
$14 from GM, forget that, I see you can match one at the hardware store and use that instead.

Went to hardware store got a couple o-rings. Broke first one putting it in, second one I put never seize all over it, was careful wiggling it in and doesn't seem to be leaking.

Took it for a test drive and runs ok but getting a #7 misfire.
Also almost caught the damn thing on fire, left rear caliper seized up and brakes were smoking bad going down the road, so bad you could see a cloud
High tailed it home and doused it with the garden hose, took a good 20 mins of soaking before it
stopping steaming.
New caliper on it's way from Rockauto.
This truck is killing me.
I think it's not leaking coolant anymore though

Still pissing coolant out that o-ring, pulled it out and it is broke.
took off all the egr stuff off the top of the motor so I can get a better angle on the pipe and not have it cut the o-ring going in at the angle it is.

On the bright side though you will practically have a new truck when you are done (y)

FYI, stay away from dorman cooler, in 4 months of install it was corroded and I live in a non salt area. I can say I used the PPE one after for good results.

I threw it on farcebook as a part out. If I did part it out I could almost make the $8k back I have invested so far.
I am at the 50/50 point -- still have to spend $4k on the bed I want and body panels that need to be replaced. Only way to recoup investment is to keep it for a long long time.

I ordered a TYC, Thanks for the heads up. I will keep an eye on it.
Maybe a few coats of spray paint might help it last a bit longer.

Blah, 3 different injectors on #7 and still knocking.
#1 used injector in that hole, knocking, bal rate at 15
#2 used injector in that hole knocking almost all but gone but bal rate at 7
#3 used injector in that hole knocking back and bal rate back to 15.

Guess I am just gonna pony up $1000 for 4 more rebuilts and be done with it.

Is this like, Rinse, Lather, Repeat!

This job is starting to remind me of my boat, throw lots of money at it, and guess what?
It's something else!
Stay the coarse, it will pay off in the long run.

🤪 I don't know who to thank, replaced #7 with a rebuilt and knock is gone, balance rate is in check. Have 2 more that are showing 3-4 for balance rate numbers. I might just get 2 more rebuilts, price has come down to $200 each.
I have 2 more injectors to pull from my parts motor but they such a pain to get out, takes about an hour wiggling back an forth.
I might see if Metro will pay me any money as cores, then I could put that towards 3 more rebuilts

Sssshh, don't want to jinx but 5th time is the charm on the EGR coolant pipe o-ring, it hasn't leaked in a few days now. Got a brand new $13 GM one sitting here just in case.
On the 5th one I was real careful to not pinch it while pushing pipe in housing.

Waiting for my replacement bruce jenner cooler to show up so I can road test it.

Bruce Jenner cooler is in, took it for a few mile ride.
Running good. Might have finally turned the corner.
Pulled balance rates after the test run.

Odd Cylinder #1 is a rebuilt and it is throwing a 3.1.
Not sure if it's the rebuilt I got from O'reillys or Metro though.
Screw it, I am running it as is.
