I am going to put a ORU roof rack on my crew cab.

In the past, on a Toyota, I installed one of their racks directly on my roof with their 4 point mounting kit. I had to drill 8 1/2 holes. Once installed the rack could not be removed or you would have 8 big holes to cover or if you left the mounts you would have 4 large "door hinge looking" mounts on top of your truck.

ORU makes a rack for an Avalanche with the factory roof rails. This way I think I could remove the rack and leave the ok looking rails on my truck when I did not need the rack. Has anyone done this? Is it easy and straight forward. Is the roof of the Avalanche the same size and shape as a crew cab? Will my cab lights be in the way? Anyone know the GM part number? The $? Thanks, I'll get photos up as soon as I get it done.

Comparing my wife's Avalanche to my truck, it should be no problem.

I too did this on my 03 1500 HD gasser. the rack came with everything you need to install, even the special little tool for seating the anchors in the roof. It was pretty easy, only took a couple hours. Measure twice, drill once!
