So far i ahve not had any problems with my autometer egt probe yet with 10,000 miles on it. I bought the hotter probe instead of the one they ship with it.

There are a few things to consider here. How far is the probe into the manifold? I have read where it will heat it up so much that it will stop reading, not sure how true that is. Also, where are your wires placed? Out of the way, not touching anything that can arc over and short out the gauge? The only other thing I can think of is you might have something that is shorting out the gauge in the way you hooked it up and that might be causing you to go through these. What do they look like when you take them out? Any marks on the wires, end of the probe, etc???

VDO is one of Autometer's competitors.
VDO and Stewart-Warner ruled the hot rod market in the 70s.
